Cone Idly

Cone idly is also my experimental recipe. This is very easy and healthy snack item. This is very funny item for kids. Here I use coriander leaves for green colour. you can use carrot, beet to get different colors. I hope you like it too….

Ingredients:
Urad dal -1 cup

Green chilli -2
Coriander leaves – ¼ cup
Ginger (small size) – 1
Jeera – 2 tsp
Rice flour – ½ cup
Oil – 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Method of preparation:
  1. Soak urad dal in just enough water overnight or for at least 4 to 6 hours.
  2. Grind the dal into silky smooth batter. Add ginger, jeera, chilli and coriander leaves to the batter and grind it again to get the medium tight consistency add required water while grinding.
  3. Batter should be tight than normal idly batter.
  4. Boil 1 cup of water. When it has reached a steady boil, add salt and oil. Now immediately add the rice flour and stir quickly so as to remove all lumps.
  5. Cover with a lid for some time. Remove the lid & stir again
  6. This has to be done very carefully. The dough should be neither too sticky nor too dry. Now remove pan from the heat. Take off all the mixture on a flat plate. Knead it thoroughly while hot. Make soft dough.
  7. It is best to make the cones when the dough is slightly warm. Grease the palms of your hands well. Take a ball of dough. Flatten the dough to form a cone shape.
  8. Fill the cone with above dal batter carefully.
  9. Place the cones on idly trays carefully. Steam them for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  10. Hot idly cones are ready to eat with tomato chutney. Dribble ghee on cones before serving.
