Tomato Cucumber Salad (TCS)


 I am giving one more recipe for summer is tomato cucumber salad.This is very tasty and healthy too. North Indians have good habit eating salad before starting meal. Eating salad aids enhance digestion, in reducing cholesterol levels and increase metabolic rate. In this ingredients are raw tomatoes,cucumber(kheera), black salt , black pepper powder and fresh low fat curd.This is very simple to make and we should prepare freshly before eating. It was very tasty to eat. I am giving some health and nutritional values about tomatoes, black salt and cucumber.

Health benefits of tomatoes include treating urinary tract infections,skin ailments and diabetes, lowering hypertension and t eyesight.Tomato is considered both a vegetable and fruit and forms an integral part of cuisine round the globe. It boosts the health of a person if consumed daily. It contains numerous antioxidants which combat various types of cancer. Also tomato is rich in minerals and vitamins and also protects the heart from cardiovascular diseases. Also, tomato prevents hypertension and promotes eye health. Tomatoes act like a natural antiseptic and hence protect from infections. Nicotinic acid present in tomatoes help in reducing blood cholesterol levels thereby preventing heart disorders.Vitamin K present in tomatoes help in preventing hemorrhages.Vitamin A in tomato aids in preventing macular degeneration and night blindness, and in improving vision.

Cucumber or kheera  is enriched with a lot of nutrients which include energy, carbohydrates, sugar, fats, proteins, dietary fiber, vitamin C, iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium, Vitamin B6, and many others. For the weight conscious peoples, cucumber is best option because it will make your belly full and you will avoid taking other types of foods that are rich in calories. You can reduce the big dark circles under your eyes and swelling around your eyes by using cucumber. Cucumber acts as a natural eye pad for your eyes and the tiredness and puffiness of your eyes will leave you.

Black salt also known as Black Indian salt or “Kala Namak” is a pungent smelling condiment salt used in India food dishes.The pungent smell of the black salt is owing to its sulfur content in the presence of impurities and sodium chloride makes it black in color.Black salt mixed with 
pepper and lemon promotes digestion in body.Black salt is useful in gastric problems and also helps in the case of constipation.Herbal medicines including mint and black salt are useful for getting rid from toxic substances.Black salt is found to be helpful in case of tumors.

Ingredients:
Tomato,cut into small pieces - 1
cucumber(kheera), cut into small cubes - 1
Fresh low fat curd - 2 tbsp
Fresh coriander leaves - few
Black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Jeera powder - 1/4 tsp
Black salt - 1/4 tsp
Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste  

Method of preparation:
  1. Take a bowl add tomato slices, cucumber cubes, fresh coriander leaves, black pepper powder, jeera powder, black salt and salt and mix well.
  2. Add fresh curd and lemon juice and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  3. If you want to eat cool salad keep it in refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  4. Now yummy salad is ready to eat before starting meals or brunch time.
