Poha Pongal





When there is no time to prepare breakfast, this is the best option to make it easily. This is also very healthy snack item. It is typically served for breakfast and is quite light and nutritious. This is the one of my breakfast menu.
 

Ingredients:
 

Poha/Flattened Rice -1 cup
Moong dal -1/2 cup
Black pepper - 4
Cashew nuts -10
Curry leaves -10
Green chilli- 2
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
 

Method of preparation:

  1. Soak the moong dal in water for 1hour
  2. Soak the poha in water for 2 minutes, and then drain all the water, pressing the poha lightly.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan, add black pepper, chilies, cashew nuts, curry leaves and salt , sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add soaked moong dal sauté for 3-4 minutes.  Add a little bit water. Cover and cook on medium flame for 5 minutes till the moong dal is cooked.
  5. Add poha and mix well.
  6. If you want to eat spicier,  you can add white pepper powder before serving.
  7. Now yummy poha pongal is ready to eat.
