Ingredients:
Grated Carrot – 1/2 cup
Tomato (chopped) – 1
Green Chilli slices – 2
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Lemon Juice - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Jeera – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – few
Turmeric powder – 1tsp
Asafetida – 1 pinch
Coriander leaves – few
Oil – 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Method of preparation:
- Pressure cook the dal with a pinch of turmeric and asafoetida in 2 cups of water for 3 whistles.
- Heat some oil in a pan. Pop the mustard seeds, jeera, curry leaves and green chilli.
- Add ginger garlic paste sauté for a minute and add grated carrot sauté until it turns into soft.
- Add tomato and sauté until it cooks well.
- Add boiled dal and some water stir well. Cover and cook it for 2 minutes.
- Add salt and coriander leaves and mix well and switch of the gas.
- Finally add lemon juice and stir properly.
- Now tasty carrot dal is ready to eat with rice or roti.
- This dal is very good for kids.
