Soya Kadhi




This is a North Indian recipe. I got this from TV. Till now I made it two times. It was good tasty. This is very easy and healthy recipe. Here I used soya nuggets ,besan and curd. Soy protein contains all the amino acids needed by the body, and is an excellent replacement for meat-based proteins. Besan(chick peas flour) is low in Saturated Fat, and very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Dietary Fiber, Magnesium and Copper, and a very good source of Folate and Manganese. Curd is excellent source of calcium.The bacteria in curd can help digest food and thus, alleviate the problem of stomach infection.This is very good to eat with any flavored rice or kichidi or plain rice. Ingredients:
Besan - 2 tbsp
Soya Nuggets - 1/2 cup
Curd - 1 cup
Ginger paste - 1 tsp
Green chilli paste - 1 tsp
Cinnamon powder - 1/2 tsp
Jeera - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Turmeric powder - 1 pinch
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves - few
Curry leaves - few
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt to taste




Method of preparation:

  1. Soak Soya nuggets in hot water for 10 minutes, then wash it in cold water and drain excess water from soya
  2. Beat the curd and add two cups of water.  Add the besan, salt, turmeric powder and mix well.
  3. Make a paste of ginger, chilli, cinnamon and coriander leaves.
  4. Boil the curd mixture on slow heat and stir continuously. Add the ground paste, and boil again.
  5. Add boiled soya nuggets and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Heat some oil in a pan. Pop the mustard seeds,  jeera, asafoetida and curry leaves
  7. Pour this seasonings over soya kadhi and remove from heat.
  8. Sprinkle red chilli powder on top and serve hot with any rice or kichidi.
