Ingredients:
Jonna ravva-1 cup
Chopped onions-1/4 cup
Green chilli-2
Curry leaves-7 or 8
Urad dal-1 tsp
Oil-2 tbsp
Chana dal-1 tsp
Water -2 cups
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Coriander leaves (chopped)-2 tbsp
Jeera-1tsp
Salt to taste
How to make Jonna ravva:
- First pan fry the jowar(pearl millet) without oil and cool them for some time.
- Grind the jonnalu in mixer grinder for coarse powder like ravva.
- Separate the fine powder from above coarse powder by sieving. Now we can use ravva for upma.
How to make Upma:
- Heat the pan, add oil ,add urad dal, chana dal, mustard seeds,jeera,green chilli, Curry leaves and add chopped onions, saute for 2 mints.
- Add 2 cups of water, boil them.
- When it comes to rolling boil, add 1 cup of ravva, stir continuously to avoid lumps.
- Cover the pan with lid and cook for some time to get good smell.
- Garnish with coriander leaves. Now hot hot upma is ready to serve with chutney of Ur choice.
